Net.Tcp Port Sharing Configuration

CartoPac Server’s windows service hosts a WCF endpoint for communication between the web front-end and the business layers hosted internal to the service. This WCF endpoint listens on a protocol that uses the Net.tcp Port Sharing Service. The Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service is always configured and enabled for CartoPac Server but special permissions must be configured in order for a non-elevated process identity to use port sharing.

American Innovations recommends running the CartoPac Server Service as the Local System account (NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM). Alternatively, the windows service may be run as a domain service account placed in the local administrators group on the CartoPac Server.

In such cases where the Local System Network Service account (NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEMNetwork Service) or local administrator access is not available for the service process identity, non-administrative domain accounts may be configured from scratch with lower permissions necessary to run the CartoPacServer Service App Pool.
