Installation Overview

Turn off power to the rectifier before beginning any wiring installation to the RM4010 , RM4014, or RM4014S.

The following steps provide an overview of a typical installation. The information also identifies the recommended installation sequence.

  1. Determine where to install the RM4010 or RM4014, making sure objects or the terrain do not interfere with satellite communication.

Ensure that the equipment is positioned in such a manner that is it easily accessible to install, wire, and operate.

  2. Mount enclosure and then:

    1. Connect optional GPS antenna (Install GPS Antenna).

    2. Connect incoming power supply in DC Input connector of RM4010 or RM4014 (Install Power Supply).

    3. Install optional surge arrester Install Antenna with Surge Protection.

    4. Connect required ground (Connect Unit Ground).

  3. Install satellite terminal. Verify satellite signal using Bullhorn Tools (Install Satellite Terminal).

  4. If using the RM4010, RM4014, or RM4014S to interrupt rectifier current, connect a mercury or solid state relay to the unit (Install Relay).

  5. Connect your device(s) to the unit input channels. Dress input wires inside enclosure. Connect unit input wires to output terminals of your device(s) (Connect Input Wires).

  6. Configure unit for service (Configuration Overview).

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage electronic components. To prevent ESD damage when handling electronic equipment, always wear an anti-static wrist strap attached to an unpainted, grounded metal object. Ensure the wrist strap has maximum contact with bare skin. If an anti-static wrist strap is available, discharge static electricity from yourself and your clothing by touching a grounded metal object before handling electronic equipment.
