Authentication Options

CartoPac Server Supports Internal Authentication as well as Windows Integrated Authentication.

Internal Authentication - create and manage Users and Roles within the CartoPac Application. An Internal provider specifies that Internal Credentials (Forms Based Credentials) are to be used with CartoPac Server. Internal credentials are created exclusively for CartoPac Server and are internal to CartoPac Software. An internal provider will require that the authentication mode use the Login Form setting (a Web Form will be required to login with internal credentials).

Windows Integrated Authentication - Specify users and roles for use with the CartoPac Application from Windows Active Directory. A Windows provider specifies that Windows Credentials are to be used with CartoPac Server. Windows credentials are created outside of the CartoPac Server and are used with many different applications. A Windows provider requires a domain for use with CartoPac Server, but may be used with either a Login Form or Integrated Windows Authentication Mode (CartoPac recommends using an Integrated Windows authentication mode when using a windows provider to avoid entry of Windows credentials in a web form).

Windows Integrated authentication may use either Windows Active Directory Groups, or Internally Managed Roles.
