RM520 Unit Overview

RM520 Interruptible Bond Monitor units provide GPS synchronized bond interruption with enhanced real-time monitoring specifically designed for single-bond sites.

Synchronized current interruption requires installation of the included American Innovations REL2502 Solid State Relay.

Other features include AC/DC pipe-to-soil measurements, a 10-year battery life with field-replaceable batteries, and a small form factor.

RM520 units can be configured wirelessly via the iOS /Android versions of the Bullhorn Tools app and are fully compatible with Triton Test Stations.

Components of RM520 units include:

  • RM520 Unit

    • Designed to be installed on a test station consisting of a 3 inch riser post and a test head with one or two attached reference cells. The test station must be connected to the pipeline structure, with structure connections terminated to the test head’s connection panel.

    • Supports two-way communication with Bullhorn Web over the AT&T LTE cellular network (RM520C) or Iridium satellite network (RM520S). Supports GPS synchronized current interruption. The enclosure meets the IP65 standard.

    • Includes the following input channels:

      • Pipe 1: structure

      • Pipe 2: foreign structure

      • Ref 1: Permanent reference cell

      • Cal/Ref 2: 2nd permanent or portable reference cell

20A maximum input current for two structure measurements, one shunt measurement.

  • REL2502 Solid-State Relay with Integrated Shunt

The REL2502 solid-state relay includes an integrated 20A shunt.

RM520 units ship with eight installed AA Lithium batteries, an integrated RM520 / REL2502 relay wiring adapter cable, two test station cap spacers, an RM520 mounting bracket, and other materials necessary for installation.
