Are there any benefits to upgrading to the AT&T LTE Cellular and Orbcomm IDP Satellite networks?
Yes. Customers can see more reliable network coverage, faster transmission speeds, and extend the lifespan of their Bullhorn units.
If I send my affected units in to be retrofitted to support LTE or IDP, will I be charged an RMA evaluation fee?
No. RMA evaluation fees are waived for customers who send their units in to be retrofitted to support the newer networks.
If AT&T or Orbcomm decide to extend the life of their networks past what has been announced, will my affected units continue working?
Yes. AI will support service on existing networks for as long as the carrier networks are active. If the carriers decide to extend the lifespan of these networks, we will let customers know.
How will my service plans be affected?
Cellular unit service plans are unaffected and will continue to be billed normally. Satellite units will be migrated to IDP bill plans. See Recommended Actions for defaults. You are also welcome to specify a different service plan for your units.
What changes should I expect moving from a SAT to IDP bill plan?
IDP bill plans are priced and structured differently than SAT bill plans. SAT units are billed by the number of transmissions sent to and from the unit. IDP units are billed by the number of bytes used in these transmissions.
What is the expected lifespan of the AT&T LTE Cellular and Orbcomm IDP Satellite networks?
No sunset dates have been set for these networks, these are the latest technologies available to us.
When did AI hear about these networks sunsetting?
AI was informed about the end of ISATM2M support in late January 2019 and the end of legacy cellular network support in late February 2019.
Will I receive any discounts on upgrades/retrofits for affected units that I just recently purchased?
We understand that suddenness of these announcements and will do everything we can to ensure a smooth transition to a newer network. Please contact your sales representative for pricing information.
