Replace a Unit

Remote monitoring units can be replaced with another unit of the same type using the Replace Unit function found on the Unit Admin page. When you replace a unit, the settings and alerts for the original unit remain the same for the new unit. For RM4010 or RM4014 units, you will need to resend settings to those units. While most units can be replaced with another unit of the same type (for example, an RM4010 with an RM4010), other units can be replaced with not only the same type but also with unit types that have similar functions and configurations (for example an RM4010 with an RM4011, RM4014, or an RM4015). The following table lists those unit types that can be replaced with the same unit type OR one with similar functions.

If replacing an RM4010, RM4011, RM4013, RM4014, RM4015, or RM4016, ensure that all settings, including all data points, transmission schedules, and interruption, are set on the new units in the same manner as the old units (if desired) before replacing the unit on the Bullhorn Web account.

Currently you can only replace RM510C/RM510S units with other RM510C/RM510S units. Replacing a RM5 I/O 4 module in Bullhorn Web does not require any action from the user. The new I/O module is automatically detected by the RM510C/RM510S and the new I/O module serial number is updated in Bullhorn Web.

After the replacement, Unit B keeps all the historic information collected by Unit A. The following information and settings that were entered and collected by Unit A are retained and installed with Unit B's hardware and radio.

  • ID

  • Facility ID

  • packets

  • alerts, alert conditions, and alert contact destinations

  • saved location (as entered on the website)

When you replace a unit, the settings and alerts for the original unit will remain the same for the new unit.
